Albert Pujols Heading to DL?

Albert Pujols has not been running well at all this season due to a foot issue. Pujols is suffering from plantar fascitis, an inflammation of the tissue that stretches across the bottom of the foot.  Pujols was the Angels DH for the fourth straight game on Sunday in an effort to avoid the disabled list. However, Pujols came out and announced that he is "dying" right now and a DL stint could be imminent. This appears to be something that is solvable and manageable. The truth is that there is not much he or the Angels can do about this situation except let Pujols rest. Fantasy owners have to hope that Pujols can get back to first base and keep that first base eligibility for 2014.

 MLB News & Notes

  • Ryan Zimmerman was placed on the disabled list with a strained left hamstring and recalled Anthony Rendon was recalled from Triple-A. Zimmerman Rendon went 0-4 in his Nats debut on Sunday and appeared over matched. He will most likely go back down to the minors once Zimmerman is healthy and ready to go.
  • Joey Votto hit his third home run of the season in Sunday's 10-6 defeat of the Marlins.
  • Mark Teixeira (wrist) rehab is progressing slower than expected. He is not ready to hit soft-toss and has not been cleared for tee drills. May 1 was the target return date, but that appears to be a long shot at this point.
  • Jim Henderson pitched a perfect ninth inning with two strikeouts to earn his fourth save of the season Sunday. Since he became the Brewers closer, Henderson has collected four saves in as many chances and one win in six appearances.
  • Freddie Freeman tweeted that he is on his way to Denver to meet up with the Braves. Freeman will be activated and play tonight. Fantasy owners need to get him back in their lineup.
  • Mark Trumbo hit a walk-off home run in the 13th inning of Sunday's 4-3 win over the Tigers. Trumbo is off to a solid start this year and should continue to be a source of power.
  • Chad Billingsley was placed on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow pain. He has experienced issues with the elbow in the past, and Tommy John surgery had been recommended to him. It will be very surprising if Billingsley avoids having that surgery this time. It that happens, he will be done for the year.
  • Jhoulys Chacin was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain. Chacin has gotten off to a strong start this season so its a tough setback for him and the Rockies.
  • Yoenis Cespedes (hand) is on track to begin playing in minor league rehab games on Friday. Cespedes has been saying for the last few days that he feels good to go, so unless he experiences a setback, he should be back as soon as he is eligible to come off the disabled list on April 28th.
  • The Reds placed Ryan Hanigan on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique on Sunday. This opens the door for Devin Mesoraco to get regular playing time. Mesoraco is a streaky hitter, but he provides some power and possibly a decent batting average with this extended playing time.
