Manny Machado Leaves Game with Knee Injury

Share

Manny Machado is one of the best rising stars there is in Major League Baseball along with Bryce Harper, Mike Trout, and Jose Fernandez just to name a few. On Monday afternoon, the Baltimore Orioles postseason hopes came to an end by the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field and they lost Machado in the process. In one of the scariest moments of the season, Machado was carted off the field after he suffered what appeared to be a serious injury to his left knee. Machado was running out a ground ball when he stepped on the side of the first base bag and had his knee buckle. He was in immediate pain and remained on the ground for awhile before being carted off the field. We should know more about his status after he undergoes an MRI on Tuesday, but it's safe to say that this is the last we'll see of him this year. At this point, the hope is that the injury will not impact him in 2014.  Machado is batting .282 with 14 home runs and 71 RBI this season and has become one of the top third baseman in the game.
