Matt Kemp Activated by the Dodgers

Matt Kemp was activated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday in Phoenix. The question now is whether or not he will be of much use for fantasy owners in the final 13 days of the season. According to Dodgers manager Don Mattingly, Kemp ran the bases "really tentative", so he plans to limit Kemp to pinch hitting duties for the first few days. Fantasy owners should not expect much in the final days of the season as the Dodgers are just trying to have Kemp avaliable for the playoffs. This has been a nightmare season for him and there is no reason to think that he is close to 100%. The Dodgers are dealing with the injury bug again as Hanley Ramirez (hamstring), Andre Ethier (ankle), and Yasiel Puig (hip) are hurting as well. As for Kemp, there is real no reason to roster him for the final two weeks unless your in a keeper league format.

But he has been dealing with a right middle finger injury for months and the Rockies outfielder announced this weekend that he won’t swing another bat this year. Gonzalez will travel to Cleveland this week to visit another hand specialist and if surgery is recommended, which is what an Arizona hand specialist already recommended, Cargo will have the surgery. Fantasy owners that were hoping to get Cargo back for the final 14 days of the season can only wave good-bye to one of the most productive offensive players in the game.
