The Colorado Rockies received devastating news on Thursday when All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki went down with a broken rib. Tulowitzki has been dealing with the injury for the past few weeks and he aggravated it again when he was diving for a ball in Thursday's loss to the Nationals. Tulo will most likely be out 4-to-6 weeks. It is good news that the injury is not season-ending, but the frustration for Tulowitzki owners. Its scary to think the type of offensive production he would provide IF he could ever stay healthy for a full season.

The Rockies received the news on Tulowitzki the same day that both Dexter Fowler and Carlos Gonzalez both suffered injuries. Gonzalez was standing in the on-deck circle and was hit on his left foot by a foul ball hit by Jordan Pacheco. Gonzalez said he is sore and should be back soon. Fowler, has a bruised right finger and he too feels that he won't be out of the Rockies lineup very long.

The Giants put two runners on in the first inning and loaded the bases in the second against Cole, but failed to score in either inning. Cole threw strike after strike and worked off his fastball, which touched 99 mph, and did not walk a batter throughout the game. He will face the Dodgers in his next start on Sunday.
