Domonic Brown was named the National League Player of the Month for May on Monday. Later in the day, he went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in the win over the Marlins. That home run was his ninth home run in his past 10 games and he has raised his average from .248 on May 22nd and now it sits at .291. It is too early to save that Brown is going to save the Phillies season, but the electricity is back at Citizens Bank Park and it has everything to do with Brown's incredible power streak. Brown seems to have realized his potential this year and he has become must see every night. He will cool off at the plate, but enjoy the ride!
The Los Angeles Dodgers promoted Yasiel Puig on Sunday afternoon following their 7-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies. Puig is expected to be in Los Angeles on Monday and likely play everyday with Matt Kemp and Carl Crawford out with injuries. Puig was batting .313 with eight home runs and 37 RBIs and 13 steals at Double-A Chattanooga. Puig made an extremely strong impression in spring training when he hit .517 with 3 homers and 11 RBI and he continued to impress the Dodgers while he was in Chattanooga. Puig has the great combination of power and speed and it will be interesting to see if begins to get regular playing time when Kemp and Crawford return from their recent injuries. It seems neither of them can stay healthy for long and with Andre Ethier struggling, Puig may stay with the Dodgers and not return to the minors. He is an immediate pick up in all formats.
