L.A. Galaxy can clinch playoff spot with win on Saturday

The defending MLS Cup Champion L.A. Galaxy can clinch a spot in the MLS Cup Playoffs win a win over Toronto FC on Saturday. The game will be played at the Home depot Center in Carson at 7:30pm.

Players to watch include Galaxy striker Robbie Keane and the defense. Keane is on fire scoring nine goals in his last 14 games. The Galaxy defense has not allowed a goal in three straight MLS games and 5 straight games overall. The Galaxy defense (DeLaGarza, Dunivant, Franklin, Gonzalez), which started the season in peril playing without MLS Defender of the Year Omar Gonzalez to injury, has shined since his return.

The Galaxy sat at the basement of the Western Conference standings in June and now find themselves in third place, currently two points back of second place Seattle and tied on points with fourth place RSL. The Galaxy hope to finish in third place or better thus avoiding the one game playoff between the fourth and fifth seed. No matter where they finish, the Galaxy are peaking at the right time and given the fact the defense is playing so well they look primed to make another serious run at the MLS Cup. I will have a full recap following the game on Saturday.
